Skillfulness in Action

Dr. Christina DiBona Pastan received her BA in chemistry from Wheaton College in 1988 and her DMD in 1991 from the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. She completed her residency in general practice at New England Medical Center before entering the post-graduate endodontics program at Tufts, earning her specialty certificate in 1994. She currently runs her own endodontics practice on the North Shore of Massachusetts.

Dr. Pastan is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Endodontics and the Director of Mind-Body Wellness at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Her work involves lectures and guiding experiences in the mind-body practices of yoga and meditation, and how they assist in the development of the dental professional as well as support individual personal growth and stress relief. When an individual experiences a balanced state of mind and body, they not only become fully present in themselves and in life, but as a dental health care provider in the care they can give their patients. Dr. Pastan has co-developed a course on wellness that is required of all first-year Tufts dentistry students and guides weekly yoga classes and meditation sessions to the students, faculty and staff. She is also the advisor to the student wellness club and Co-Chair of the TUSDM Wellness Committee.

Dr. Pastan is a certified yoga and meditation instructor, having completed a 300-hour certificate at the renowned Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health. She also holds a 25-hour certificate in Lakshmi Voelker Chair Yoga™ from Kripalu. Kripalu Yoga is a style of classic Haltha yoga that focuses on non judgment, self compassion and self awareness, qualities she feels are essential to bringing body, mind and spirit into a state of harmony and balance and to connect to the self.
